Are Electronic Craps Machines Rigged?

A regulated electronic craps machine should operate under an approved game configuration, but “electronic craps” covers several different result mechanisms. Determine whether the game uses physical dice, a hybrid table, or an RNG before evaluating fairness or a disputed outcome.
Do not substitute trust for verification
A gaming license and device approval are meaningful controls, not a guarantee that software can never malfunction. Read the paytable, confirm the regulator, keep transaction evidence, and use the formal dispute process when the displayed settlement does not match the rules.

Do not identify the mechanism from a product name alone. For example, Washington’s approved Roll to Win rules describe both a dealer-assisted physical-dice mode and an automated RNG mode. Shoot to Win has its own approval. Read the help screen and jurisdiction-specific rules for the machine in front of you.
Why losing is not evidence of rigging
Standard craps payouts already create a house edge. Pass Line costs about 1.41% of the flat wager in expectation; Any 7 costs 16.67%. A fast machine can also resolve more bets per hour, increasing total action and expected dollar loss even when every result is fair.
Random sequences contain clusters. Several sevens, repeated points, or a long drought of one total can occur without manipulation. Personal session data is usually too small and selectively remembered to establish bias.
What regulators and casinos can control
- approval of the game type, rules, software version, and hardware configuration;
- access controls, logs, meters, and transaction history;
- RNG and outcome-generation requirements for virtual games;
- physical dice and recognition procedures for bubble or hybrid games;
- displayed rules, paytables, commissions, and working defaults;
- malfunction handling, incident reporting, and dispute escalation;
- inspection, testing, and removal of noncompliant equipment.
The exact standard depends on the jurisdiction. A device approved in one place is not automatically approved everywhere or in every configuration.
Player fairness checklist
- Identify the result source. Physical dice, hybrid, or RNG?
- Identify the regulator. The property or machine should provide licensing information.
- Open the rules. Check payouts, commission timing, Odds limits, and working defaults.
- Test the interface. Use the minimum while learning bet confirmation and cancellation.
- Track total action. Speed can create more expected loss than a slower live session.
- Keep evidence. Preserve tickets, game numbers, times, and transaction screens for a dispute.
Red flags that justify stopping
- No identifiable licensed operator or regulator;
- paytable or help screen unavailable before wagering;
- result and settlement history cannot be reviewed after a claimed error;
- displayed payout contradicts the credited transaction;
- repeated malfunctions without attendant documentation;
- pressure to continue playing while a dispute remains open.
No betting system beats a fair electronic craps game. Applying a live-table progression to a screen changes bet sizes, not the house edge or independence of outcomes.
If a result or payout appears wrong
Stop, document the terminal and game cycle, summon an attendant, request a supervisor and transaction review, and follow the casino’s written dispute process. Contact the named gaming regulator if the property cannot resolve a documented mismatch.

I’ve played craps for over 40 years and I have NEVER seen sequences that occur regularly on either bubble crap or stadium crap machines using “generated” dice rolls like sessions that happen on live felt tables with shooters. These things are classified as slot games correct? Slot machines are regulated by the gaming commissions rule set to provide a predetermined win percentage correct? As soon as you pull a handle, press a button the outcome has already been determined. So, there may be an RNG used by the crap systems but the real question is how does the machine set the dice to the number selected by the RNG which ultimately can determine the payout rate it needs to make.
