How to Win at Craps
Craps is one of the best games for the player in an online or live casino. It has the lowest house edge of any table game beside blackjack. Learning how to win at craps will put more money in your pocket when you play at an online casino for real money.
We have put together seven winning strategies that are regularly used by online craps players. They are waht we feel are the best way to win at craps. Add these tricks to your arsenal and you will be well on your way to beating the game.
7 – Slow The Game Down
There is no denying that craps is a fast-paced game. In a live casino it can be very hard for the inexperienced player to keep up. The dice are flying, the stickman and boxman are yelling, and players are encouraging, or criticizing, the shooter. Add all that up and you have a very chaotic environment.
This is why a new player who wants to know how to win at craps should begin by playing online. When you play online you are required to spend less money on each hand. The minimum bet can often be just $1. Even better, you don’t have to roll the dice until you are ready and have made all your bets.
No loud yelling. No quick throws of the dice. This means that you can focus on the game, eliminate mistakes, and perfect a winning craps strategy.
6 – Focus on Line Betting
Craps is a game with a lot of bets. There are field bets, proposition bets, hardway bets, and more to choose from. There are almost 100 different bets you could make on every roll of the dice. The casino is counting on you to make those bets because most of them are bad for the player.
There is one type of bet at the craps table that preserves the low house edge for the player. This is the line bet. To start the game a player must make a line wager. This is bet on the dice thrower, or shooter. A Pass line bet is one that the shooter will win his or her roll. A Don’t Pass line bet is one that the shooter will lose.
Of all the bets offered at craps, the Don’t Pass line bet is the best one for the player. This means that you will be betting the shooter craps out. When you are new to the game, always focus on making line bets. Stay away from the fancy bets until you are more comfortable with the game. You can read more here about craps bets.
5 – Grow Your Bankroll
Any bettor will tell you that you need a healthy bankroll to win at gambling. You should be trying to build your bankroll over time as you are playing craps. This means using winnings from a session to add to your bankroll.
You might be wondering “how to win at craps with a small bankroll?” Well, we recommend that you start with no less than 50X the table minimum. This amount of money will give you the best chance to win without going bust. Set a win limit, and when you have reached it walk away. Then split up your winnings. Put half in your pocket and add the other half to your bankroll.
A larger bankroll means that you can play in higher limit games. In an online craps game a bigger bankroll will allow you to make a bigger line bet. With a larger bankroll and proper money management, your winnings should grow.
4 – Look for Craps Streaks and the Hot Shooter
Craps is a game of chance. Outcomes are all determined by the roll of the dice. There are more ways to roll a seven than any other number on the dice. This means that shooters are going to crap out often. What you must remember, though, is that craps is also a game which can include streaks.
Have you ever walked into a live casino and heard shouts of joy from the craps table? Probably so. Those shouts are encouragement for a shooter that is on a winning streak. When the same shooter holds the dice for twenty minutes at the craps table, someone is making a lot of money.
When you play online you will always be the shooter. You need to learn to recognize when you are in the middle of a hot streak. This is when you can really rack up some profits. Just remember that the streak can come to an end at any time.
3 – Avoid the Bad Bets
Do you really want to know how to win at craps? Avoid the bad bets. Many players lose at craps because they insist on playing bets that are for suckers. All those pretty betting spots on the craps table can be alluring. They can also separate you from your money.
Bets at craps other than line bets which pay even money should be avoided. This includes the Big 6 and Big 8 bets. Why would you cover these spots when you can bet on the field when the 6 or 8 is not the point number?
The one-roll bets are another type of bet that you will probably want to avoid until you know more about the game. Remember, avoiding a loss is sometimes the best way to win at gambling.
2 – Leave While Winning
This piece of advice should be common sense. You can never be a winner at online gambling until you learn how to walk away with a profit. If you keep gambling when you are ahead, you will eventually lose. There is no way to avoid that.
Greed is the biggest problem that many gamblers face. They cannot be happy with a small win or even a large one. They always want more. Don’t be like these degenerate gamblers. Take your winnings, come back, and do it again.
1 – Drop The Hardways Bomb
We’re going to end this discussion of how to win at craps with a little trick some pros like to call the Hardways Bomb.
On a craps table you can make a bet on a hardway combination. These combinations are the doubles 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, and 5-5. The minimum bet on a hardway bet in craps is usually $1. The payoff is 9-1 for the 3-3 and the 4-4, and 7-1 for the 2-2 and 5-5. You win the hardway bet if your hardway number is rolled before any other combination of that number.
Here’s an example. You make a hardway bet of $1 on the 4-4. The dice are rolled. If a 4-4 is rolled before any other combination that adds up to 8, you win the bet. If an 8 is rolled before the hardway is rolled, you lose. The bet remains on the table until it is won or lost.
Here’s how to drop the Hardways Bomb. Begin by making a $1 bet on the hardway of your choice. We’ll assume that you choose 3-3, or the hard six. If you win the bet you will be paid 9-1 plus the original wager for a return of $10. Instead of taking this bet, you then press the bet and put it all on another 3-3 hardway. If this second bet hits you will receive $90 plus the original bet of $10. The final step is to press this second win once more, putting the $100 on the 3-3.
If you win this third and final bet you will walk away with a total profit of $999. All it cost you to make the first bet was $1. If you lose at any point in the sequence, you only lose $1 of your own money. You only need to win this bet once in every 1,000 tries to break even.
