Family guy and Craps
Thursday, August 24th, 2006When I search for craps sites on the internet I sometimes stumble upon sites that have nothing to do with the game played with two dice. Google thinks that I’m interested in a totally different area, and it is not gambling, that’s for sure. The name of the game originates from the word crab or “crab’s eyes”, denoting a throw of two ones. It has nothing to do with the other meaning of the word…
craps
- Plural noun treated as sing. a North American gambling game played with two dice.
Crap vulgar slang
- noun 1 excrement; faeces. 2 nonsense; rubbish.
- verb (crapped, crapping) defecate
- adjective extremely poor in quality.
But I admit that the similarity can sometimes lead to comic confusions. One of my favorite TV shows, Family Guy, makes fun of this in an episode. I have searched like a mad man on the internet for this clip, and finally I found it.
