Odds bets

An Odds bet can be made if a player already has a bet on the Pass line, Don't pass line, Come or Don't come. It is an additional bet, and is usually limited to 2 or 3 times the original wager.

This bet is placed behind the original bet once a point has been established. The odds bet is the best bet in a game of craps, because the house has no built-in edge.

If a player has a bet on the pass line, and a point is established, he can put an additional bet behind the original. This bet is won if the point is rolled before a 7. The payout is different depending on what point is the player has. For 4 and 10 the house pays 2 to 1, points 9 and 5 pay 3 to 2, and points 6 and 8 pay 6 to 5. Odds bets can also be made if a player has a bet on Come. The rules and payout structure are the same as an odds bet on the pass line.

If a player makes an odds bet on don't pass or don't come he will win if a 7 is rolled. Therefore is the payout opposite the payout on the pass line. The points 4 and 10 pay 1 to 2 for example.

Players can take down their odds bet at any time. The house has no advantage on that money, so there is no reason why they shouldn't let the players take their bets back.

Odds bets - great craps

Laying odds is one of the best things players can do when playing craps. The simple reason for that is that the house doesn't have an advantage on that money. Therefore I usually make odds bets when I get the chance to.
