Buy Bets
A Buy bet is a bet on that a certain number will come up before the dice show 7. The numbers to choose from are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10. The rules are simple; if the point is rolled before 7 the player wins.
The buy bet is similar to the place bet but it offers true odds, 2 to 1 for the numbers 4 and 10, 3 to 2 for the numbers 5 and 9, and 6 to 5 for the numbers 6 and 8. To make an advantage for the house they take a commission for every bet (5%).

If you play in a "real-world casino" you pay this commission, called vigorish (vig), when you place the bet. For example, if you make a $20 buy bet on a number you place $21 in the designated box. The bet is $20 and the house takes $1.This is not necessary if you play online. If you make a $20 on 4 in the internet casino, and the bet wins, the house pays you $48.5.
Let me give you an example how the payout is calculated: The 20$ bet pays 3 to2. That makes a $30 win. The house deducts the vig from that amount, and leaves you with a $28.5 win. Add this amount to the original bet and you'll have $48.5.
Casino commission in buy bets
The buy bet pays true odds. That sounds really good. But remember that the casino take a commission on every bet (vig). At some casinos you only have to pay the vig when the bet is winning. When casinos have that rule their advantage is 1, 6% to 2, 2%, depending on what number you choose. There are definitely worse bets players can make.
